Finally discovered how to catch a fish at night. And did I ever!

Started at the riprap at 10:30 at the beginning of the incoming. I think the wind was NW but it wasn't blowing at all at this spot. The water was like glass. It was also pretty clear but had some sea salad in it. I could see and hear swirls of fish feeding on the sea worms. This happened a few time just 10 ft from me. Didn't spot any bait, but was told there was bunker earlier.

Threw out a magnum chicken scratch bomber, sluggo, bass assassin, even a popper, but only had one hit on a redfin.

Moved to the low tide bar around 11:30 to see and hear more swirls and splashes. Couldn't get a sniff for nearly an hour. Finally the swirls got closer and threw the bomber right on top of the splash. Then I see swirling water approaching th lure. Fish on! and it was peeling drag like I never felt before. It may sound amteurish, but I felt like my lami rod was in danger of cracking. I had waded pretty far out and was trying to work the fish to shore, but managed bring her in before hitting the beach. Lipped this mother, unhooked it, and set it free. If I wasn't so far out i would've measured it, but I'd say it was 40 inches maybe 20lbs. By far my personal best.

I'm psyched and pumped. Walk back out and cast over the next swirl. Same result but even bigger fish. A few more casts there but it was over. I walked around the bend. Saw more swirls, but couldn't raise anything.

I begun the trek to the car at 1:30, giddy and delirious.
