I've yet to hear anything definate yet, but theres a good chance you'll see the same size and bag as last year but it may stay open year round. The only other option that has a shot is 4-fish at 16.5 inches.

But things can change quickly in fisheries management.

Reports

I heard the same as George but most likely the fluke will stay the same at 17" and 7 limit with no closed season. Scup is in for a change also.

There was post somewhere for this years proposals but I forget on wat thread.
Some where in the 2 bass thread I think.

REGS

Bill,
Not too sure about any scup changes, but did read that Seabass will go to 12" at 25 a day,and that the regs for Weakfish will ease a little as far as size and/or bag limit. This is in NY ONLY!! Jersey regs are supposed to become more restrictive.

Here's what you can expect to happen this year

None of these are official yet but this is what you an expect to see for this year.

Striped Bass:
Same regulations as last year, with an extension of the season in 2004 opening April 15. There is a chance that this years season may open early but due to the legislative process it may extend beyond that date.

Fluke:
Same size and bag as last year with a year round open season. There is a chance that this years season may open early but due to the legislative process it may not.

Toutog
The same size and bag but the 1-fish bag from June through Sept will be eliminated. Meaning you will not be able to keep the one fish during that time period.

Cod and Haddock:
23 Inch minimum (up from 21) and a 10-fish bag

Scup
10-inches 50-fish with no closed season any longer.

Sea Bass
12-inch minimum with a 25-fish bag. Closed first 2-weeks in September and the entire month of December

No changes for weakfish, bluefish or winter flounder.
