Listen, if you can hold off, wait till the Suffren Show, when their are a number of tackle dealers there, and you will have your choice of Seeker, St. Croix, Calstar, Loomis, and other quality spinning rods. Then use the rod rating, to give you a idea what reel you should pick up. Penn, Diawa and Shimano all make excellent spinning reels, so wait till the show, and then you can really fine tune your choice. This would be the smart thing to do at this time of the year.

Suffern show is in March at Rockland County Community College. Lotta tackle under one roof. Some good deals to be found. Manaufacturers often give you a freebie (hat, etc) for buying a rod or reel that day.
