Hi All. I'm new to US after moving from New Zealand and still trying to get my head around the species and techniques. I'll be staying on Oak Island with a neighbor and really wanting to get a line in the water. Can you just fish from the dock on the island if now we have a Boston whaler we can get out in. Any tips on where, what to target and rigs appreciated. I've got all my gear from NZ from light spinners to surf/rock casters etc. Any help greatly appreciated. It's been far to long.

thats a great place to fish, try fluke rigs with lead sinkers for drifting/bottom fishing, or jigging artificials with a spinning rod, also while drifting through the inlet. that area is fantastic

Thanks Matt. Can't wait. Do you think I'll get much right off the dock? Or only really out on a boat. Any recommendations for some good artificials and best bait? I read squid might be a favourite.
