Not many charters the last time I went. @night you can catch Tarpon, snapper, snook and jacks at night in the lagoon. You can also find bonefish guides that will take you to flats farther north. Watch out for LARGE Crocs @ the edge of the lagoon @night, seriously!

I rec'd the following recommendation from a friend before I went to Cancun last month:

I was south of Cancun in February and fished out of Playa Aventuras. No fish caught for us or any other charters that day...very disappointing. My friend speaks very highly of this captain. You may need to take the ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres.

CANCUN

I WAS IN CANCUN A FEW YEARS AGO. THE HOTEL THAT I STAYED IN HAD A SMALL WALK BRIDGE THAT WENT OVER A CANAL. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BRIDGE WAS A VENDING MACHINE THAT SOLD FISH FOOD PELLETS. SO NATURALLY I BOUGHT SOME, ATE A FEW, AND THREW THE REST IN THE WATER. HOLY s*** HUGH QUEEN TRIGGERS, JACKS, AND A BUNCH OF UNIDENTIFIABLE FISH CAME FROM EVERY WHICH WAY. I DIDN'T HAVE A ROD, COULDN'T FIND A STORE THAT SOLD FISHING TACKLE, SO I WENT TO THE BRIDGE EVERYDAY WITH MY MORNING CUP OF CARONA, AND FED THE FISH. THREE YEARS LATER STUFF LIKE THIS IS WHAT STANDS OUT IN MY MIND THE MOST
