Bluefish, striped bass, weakfish, fluke, sea robins, skates, dogfish....

And if you are REALLY LUCKY and have the ENTIRE UNIVERSE ALLIGNED for you on a SPECAL NIGHT....tuna or shark (very very rare but certainly a possibility!)

There are a lot of great books out there. I would recommend going to a major bookstore and finding one you like. I have at home the encyclopedia of fishing and although most of what is in there is of no use to me after fishing my whole life I still managed to learn a lot. It has great fish identification guide. I recommend a book that has drawings of fish rather than pictures as artwork of any creature/plant/flowers etc are always more useful as a picture as artists can always highlight the characteristics and identification marks of certain fish that are similar to each other. As for Mackerel they are almost always caught offshore in our waters and the spring run is popular here. Since they speed through our waters most years you need to keep a close report to the captains etc.. as by the time you get the report they may already be in Boston.
