I was looking back at some of my fish pics and I found a pic of a fish that I caught in a stream deep in the woods in Connecticut. Can anybody identify this species? I have caught alot of sunfish species but this is one that I only have caught in that one area.

It is not a blugill This fish was more slender than a bluegill.
these are bluegills you can see the difference.

that ears is long.i thought it was a longeared sunfishbut the orange on the finns,did you get it in early spring??

Now I learned of a new fish in our waters!!!!!!!!!!

GREEN SUNFISH

Green Sunfish. They have blue lines around the guill and a large mouth compared to Bluegill. Not as common sp they are usually out competed by by other Sunfish. Pulled one out of Clove Lake in a net once.
