Just bought a 2006 21' Parker c.c. w/ a 2006 150 4 stroke yammie. I was interested in any help on keeping it running strong. One friend told me to to look out for the ethanol and to replace the gas filter every month or so, sound right? Any other help?? Thanks in advance.

I have an F-150 with 360 hrs on it. Change oil every 100 hrs. Install a 10 micron fuel/water seperator. Don't run @ max RPM (I'm very conservative - I don't run above 4000 RPM). Avoid jackrabbit starts. Flush out with fresh water after each trip. After flushing out trim motor onto supports to take strain off the power trim rams.

Agree, follow the manual on the 100hr services, basically oil, gear oil, fuel filters, there are 3 I think and not cheap. Keep a spare fuel water separator filter on board, spins on, probably in the bilge.

There may not be much you can do about ethanol gas, its hard to avoid many places. Just try to use it and dont let it sit.

Use ringfree.

I disagree about rpms, these engines are designed to be run at high rpms. If you have calm water, and dont mind burning a little gas, open it up!

my .02

all advice very good..

I have an '01 zuke DF70 = trouble free

just want to add...change the other filters in the engine as well -
Don't know about your Yammi - but I have a High pressure and Low pressure fuel filter inside the motor- I change as recomended.

also used Startron furl additive - helps with the Ethonol problem.

change the impeller / waterpump every 2 yrs .

go to go... and go and go..

ring free is a must. Mechanics will tell you to run at high RPM. I did not for a while due to kids on board, rough seas etc... Mechanic pulled plugs once and told me they were fouled. He could see that I was not running boat at high RPMS/ Just don't do that for long periods at a time. Break in period is key.

I cant say abotu the Verado but the break ins for my Sukukis was to run them at all different rpms including WOT.

The 4 strokes are defintiely meant to be run higher than the 2 strokes. WOT on my 140s is 5,500 to 6,100. I usually cruise around 4,400.
