Looking for comments on fighting chair experiences. My 34' Luhrs doesn't have a chair and I am considering buying one that has a four leg base as opposed to bolting to the floor. An example is the Todd 1500-FQ (West Marine carries it). The convenience of being able to remove it appeals as I also use the boat for other purposes (diving and cruising). The primary application is in the FL Keys.

Any comments either pro or con on experiences with these type of chairs is appreciated.

Regards,
Ed

Eb,
If your fishing for decent sized fish, it won't work. The fish will drag the cahir across the ocpit and you'll wind up in the ****pit coaming. Short answer is they are useless for anything you can't handle without a chair.

chair

Dont waste you time and money. If you plan to fish for critters that you can't handle with stand up gear put in the best chair you can afford. you need a keel mount and roller bearing pivot. Stay away from aluminum chairs with bushing swivels. they will fail you when you need them the most There is no such thind as a cheap good chair.
