I want to get into doing my own fiberglass work on my boat and was looking to see if there were any loacal long island courses availible to take to get an overall education on it. i have books and videos but i figure a "hands on" course could give me better experience for unexpected problems that can come up when doing this work. any help would be appreciated.

I just finished a two year course through Western Suffolk BOCES to become a certified marine tech. Basically a Class C mechanic. They taught me the basics of all mechanical and electrical aspects. BOCES offers like a 6-8 week adult ed course on fiberglass repair. It costs like $200 or something if that much. They also offer a heliarc welding class.
