tuna lures

I run green machines with birds on outerriggers Jet heads with bird on innerriggers Jet heads flat lined and cedar plugs about half way back in the blue water. I run a deep green machine with a bird down the middle about 15 feet past the outerrigger lures. Have great results with this pattern

I almost always offshore fish from a party boat this limits the amount of experimentation that I can do : no spreader bars, the boat rarely slow slow trolls , and then there is the limitation of having only the one assigned trolling position to play with: I can't design the whole spread.

So I play with the size, color, weight, configuration (single/chain), head style and with or w/o birds. I almost always use jet or bullet and my interest is exclusively tuna.

Are the straight running lures always the way to go for tuna and if not what other lure head styles are also productive (particular lures)? Furthermore, I remember reading on this site that tuna feed on baits of such and such size --- so tuna lures should ideally be 10 inches or less --- yet many of the Green Machines are larger than that --- what is the general opinion about the size of the lures? Is there a difference when targeting YF as compared to targeting Bigeye.
