Guys,

I was wondering what your favorite wax was for your boats. I really like this wax called Fleetwax; makes a good shine that lasts and protects the whole season. I've used it the past two seasons with great results. Anybody else every try it? Another product I like is Alumiguard by Rupp for the t-top and other metals.

I've tried them ALL . . .

I've used the various 3M's, Dolphinite, Collinite (Both types), Maguire's, West's house brand, and about 6 others and for my money the very BEST I've ever used is what my old dear-departed Uncle told me to use all along:

Garry's Royal Satin Wax.

This is the ONLY wax I've ever tried that hangs in there on my hull and foredeck from April 1 right thru mid-Jan. Despite endless salt baths and weekly acid-washings of the brown stains at the waterline, that wax STILL beads water right now, with the boat up on blocks at dockside.

I don't know what's in that stuff, but since I dock right next to my fish-cleaning station plenty of blood and gurve gets splattered on my hull. Even late in the season its just a pleasure to see that schmutz wash right off the hull WITHOUT leaving a stain behind and I attribute this to the Garry's:

Its not all that easy to find this stuff, but I get mine at Freeport Marine - one can does my hull and topsides TWICE on my 26' Inboard.

Love it. Get's the "Lep's 4 Shamrocks"
Award.

FLEET WAX

I bought it at Freeport Marine. A can lasts about 3 seasons on a 26 ft center console. Its about $15.00 and change. It is applied with a rag and must be polished off while it is still damp
with a cotton towel. Once it drys its tough. There can be no faded gel-coat, has to go on a decent surface to start. It lasts the whole season. Here is the boat just before we hauled it at the end of the season.

I like the stuff The guy who I pay hundreds of dollars to wax my boat uses!
As for Alumaguard, it works GREAT on aluminum, stainless steel and also I found if you have any black instruments on your dash that are getting grey from age, it works great on that too!

Try This for Non-skid Protection

Aurora Sure Step Boat Wax:

Sure Step Site

which I use and like. Applied to it your deck/gun'nels/foredeck it will protect from the elements and keep fish blood and chum from staining the glass -thereby removing the necessity of using caustic chemicals for removal of those stains.

Haven't used it on the floors yet, but works very well on some of the hatches, swim platform, the seats I have in the little boat as well as the rough tecture on the gunnel and transom coverboarts-MOP-N-GLOW! Ask your wife about it!

P.S. Keeps my hatches from getting that grey and streaked look!

I've been using that Alumaguard for years, but . . .

It only seems to last for maybe a few weeks at the most and only one week if it rains a bit, same for the CorrosionX.

Is there a longer-lasting alternative that anybody has direct hands-on experience with? How about that $30 kit from Woody Wax - Gimmic or the real deal?

Anything else out there for aluminum that actually lasts a while?
