hey, my question is this...
ive been hearing that albies have been showing up in party boats' blues
catches out of sheepshead bay. where, when, and how do i get some "blood
bags" as ive heard false albies refered to? ive never caught one and ive
caught tons of blues, so ill go out if they might show up to the party.

i was told to drop a jig for them on a blues boat but i have a few
questions for anyone that may have done this before.
anyone know what kind of jig? what action to give it? drop the jig above
or below the blues? 7am or 7pm boat?
thanks for any input.

NYCman,
are the boats jigging for the blues or bait fishing? I've caught them years ago on boats baitfishing by simply fishing without a wire leader. Lost lots of blues and retied a lot, but caught lots of little tunny. Jigging, I would use the smallest jig I could find and tie it on without wire, but if the bluefish are thick that could become expensive real quick.

Spend some money.Buy the video ATLANTIC SPEEDSTERS ,by Pete Barret,of the FISHERMAN MAGAZINE.It can be ordered thru that mag.Tells all about catching false albacore and bonito. These tactics also prove true for Spanish mackeral, and if you are farther out, skipjack tuna as well.

thanks guys for the help/advice. that video sounds great.
i went today on the brooklyn VI, checlk the ny reports section for the full report but i did good using sperring, small hooks and 20 lb flouro leader for bait, and deadly dick "#1 long" jigs when that was the thing to do. btw there were almost as many albies as blues! now is the time to go for them if u want em. im hooked, ill be back next week!
