eels for bass

Hi,Maybe somebody can tell me their method for fishing live eels from a private boat. I have a 19 foot center console and have used a heavy sinker to stay almost straight and went up 3 feet to a 3 way swivel and then a 10 foot floro-carbon leader (40-50 pound test) and to a 5/0 circle hook and hooked the bass tru the lower jaw. I drift. Is this the best way to fish for bass from my boat? Thanks,Davey...ps. Do i worm the same way?

Hi,

That's what I use but limit my leader to 8'. I like 80 lb jinki leader coils clear. No need to waste the $$ on fluro if your fishing at night which you most likely be with eels.

If your catching fish your all set.

I use a similiar method, but with a shorter leader also. however i thought it was worth mentioning 1 thing. When drifting I keep the weight just off the bottom, just dropping it down ever so often to keep in touch. This lets the eel drift quietly alond the bottom.
GOTTA SECOND KEEPING THE SINKER A FOOT OFF THE BOTTOM, ALONG WITH THE 10" DROPPER LINE FOR THE SINKER. IT HAS MADE THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN CATCHING ONLY A FEW OR GETTING ARM WEARY.

THANKS ALOT
DAVEY,

third on the sinker 2-3 cranks off the bottom and keep going back down and up as the depth changes. Also make sure your sinker line is lighter lb test then the other lines so you will snap off the sinker should it get caught in something.

Thanks Guys for all your help!!! Ill try this method!! Davey:)
