Hello All - I'm looking to keep my boat out at Windswept Marina in East Moriches .. Anyone have any experience with the place good or bad?? .... I know the water can be a little thin coming in/out on low tide but a side from that all looks good and well. I appreciate any feed back. Thanks and lets hope we can get out of our "cabins" soon!!!

I go there for gas and bait all the time I barely squeek in at low tide. On the plus side they have a pumpout, Atlantic Bait is there and the Marina guys are helpful. Also gas is 10c. a gal cheaper than points east.

Thanks

Yes ... in regard to low water..
My boat is only a 21'w/a with o/b, so I only need about 18 inches of water to get in/out ... I don't think it gets lower then that in there?? As I have been there for bait and gas many times.

wind swept

I spent the last two seasons at windswept. The old rate was 65 per foot. constant work going on there, new bulkheading, dredging, plans for expansion. like living in a construction zone! price went up this season to 85 per foot. I packed it up and went across the street to moriches boat and motor for the price of 50 bucks per foot. The gas is also about 50 cents cheaper and for a higher octane too! The facilities are nice at windswept but they got too pricey for me- it will be a yuppie marina before long. Good luck finding a slip!

Thank God I have a slip very cheap . 5 minutes to Moriches Inlet . I went there before last winter . The guy told me $75 a foot and I gave him my name .

He said there is a long waiting list and if he called me I would have to let him know on the spot if I would take the slip or he would give it to someone else . Take it or leave it . He never called anyway .

I felt like he had a gun to my head at the time . I guess when you have a waiting list you can get your price . It wouldn't be long before he's up to $100 a ft . His gas is cheaper to .

By the way certain engines like the yamaha outboards recomend you don't use the higher octane gas 86 to 89 is all you need . Higher can cause problems .

Anyway I do my own gas from land have a freezer just for bait which I load up at the beginning of each season . If I need more or fresh I pick it up from land . It just makes things so much easier .

There are a few other marinas in the area that are more reasonable and just as close to the Inlet .

Kept my boat there for about 5 years. They started off pretty good. My third year in there said they were fixing the place up so they had to increase the fees. No problem. The fixing was suppose to be a picnic area for families and a swimming pool. Never happened. The mechanic work has to be done by the guy that is there. Hope you don't break down during a blitz for it will take weeks to get your boat repaired. They take that their time and not because they are meticulous. The only positive is that the water depth will never be a problem. They did have security when I was there but in spite of that they broke into several Sea Ray weekenders and stole all the TV's in them. It is in fact in the Forge river and another thing, they use to give me 5cents of the gallon because I docked there. Forget about bringing your own fuel. Good Luck.

I am right near there in Moriches . A friend of mine keeps his boat there . I know many have stayed there and many have left . I believe a few years back they changed ownership . Its a nice place to dock you boat , the gas prices are the highest in the area . The repairs , well Striper is right , the key is to stay on top of Russell . Great water with no problems to the inlet in 5 Minutes . The can easilly be one of the tops if there were better Management .
