I AM AFRAID THAT MY DRAIN PLUG WILL COME LOOSE!
I HAVE A RUBBER DRAIN PLUG, WITH A SCREW THROUGH THE MIDDLE THAT IS SECURED IN THE BACK BY A THREADED METAL RING. i HAVE FOUND THAT THEY CORODE LEAVING THE SCREW TO COME LOOSE.THIS LEAVES THE DRAIN PLUG LOOSE IN SIDE THE FITTING.
ANY IDEAS 0N THIS? MAYBE PUTTING SOME KIND OJ SEALENT ON THE PLUG???

You have at least 3 options!
#1 Buy a new drain plug! $3-5.00.
#2 tighten the nut on the drain plug , this compresses the plug and tightens it up!
#3 Put the drain plug in from inside the boat(if possible)!

P.S. The nut and bolt should not corrode very much (they are made of brass) if they do, you have a very bad electrolisis problem!

On all my boats except one I put the plug in from inside the boat and checked it monthly for tightness. On the other boat I would go shallow (beach) jump out and check it monthly. I also always carried an extra just in case. I never had one rust out do to being brass

Or you could simply obtain a cork from a 1 liter bottle of fine Sparkling California Wine and stick the cork in the hole from the inside or outside, I prefer to see the cork from inside the boat. Get a warm & Fuzzy just knowing that it is there.

The sea water will swell the cork and the water will not leak in nor out for that matter. If you leave it in all year you will need pliers to remove it. Or a corkscrew will do also.
