I am currently thinking about picking up a downrigger myself. I have been fishing with mono for years now and find that much of my fishing is done in not much more than 25 feet of water. If you idea is to start fishing deeper water and larger game I agree 100% in picking up a down rigger. I currently have my eye on the PENN Fathon Mater 600 which runs about 250 dollars. There are other cheeper rigs you can buy such as the Cannon and Scotty but those who own them say that the Penn is your best bet.
