Has anyone checked out this new version of Spectra? Their product literature says it's weave is round and not flat like all the others. They say it knots better because of this as well as being better for splicing mono into the hollow that's available in line tests from 80 to 200#. This roundness also is supposed to be less likely to dig into itself under a load. It comes in a bright blue color.

How can the #80 hollow be $100.00 more than the #100 hollow.

Am I missing something here?

898680 Diamond Braid Spectra - 80 lb. Hollow, 600 yds. $199.99
898610 Diamond Braid Spectra - 100 lb. Hollow, 600 yds. $99.99

I think its the same for JB Hollowcore. Seems like the braiding process for the smaller hollow braids may be more expensive than the heavier poundage.

It is harder to make 80 lbs hollow line than 100 lbs and it cost more.

I'm not so sure about that, unless it only costs more to make 80lb hollow:confused:

60lb hollow at BHP Tackle costs less than 80lb
Somethings gotta be wrong somewhere???

80# Hollow Core has more strands of Spectra in it making it more expensive. I am not sure how many strands Momoi is using but looking at the pricing it is more than likely 16 strand. With JBH the 130 is the least expensive of the JBH products due to it having less stands than other products in the line. The 80 costs more than all of his lines until you start getting into the really heavy stuff. More strands also equates to an easier line to work with. While all of Jerry Browns products splice nicely the 80 and 100 is the nicest to work with of the lower pound tests. This is due to the density of the line keeping the needle where it should be (inside the core) when making splices and loops.

Thanks.

I thought there might be something different between the 60lb and 80lb test HC besides the diameter because it's nearly impossible to get a needle in it for finger cuff. It's hard enough to get the hook latch in for the loop.

I'll stick to solid braids below 80lb from now on.
Still, $199.00 for 600yds of any line is out of control.

I use very fine wire (guitar e string)for a latch hook and have no problem with JBH 60lb.
