"DEEP WRECK LING SEABASS"

DEF. BRING SOME JIGS AND TEASERS.

HOW HEAVY A JIG WILL DEPEND ON HOW DEEP AND HOW FAST THE WATER IS.

I'M ASSUMING THE BOAT WILL PROVIDE CLAMS. YOU CAN ALSO BRING SQUID AND STRIP BAITS. FRESH CLAMS COULDN'T HURT.

ANY GARBAGE FISH THAT COMES UP MAKES GOOD FRESH BAIT. GOOD LUCK

Oldbayrat...deep water seabass and ling fishing is pretty straight forward..bring a number of hooks from 2/0 through 7/0 since you never know what you are going to encounter this time of the year. If you are using a dropper hook rig, just switch off the larger hooks, with 2/0 and 3/0 hooks if you see scup around, which is a very good possibility at this time of the year. Use a slightly heavier sinker if they drift, or if the current is running harder then usual. Bring some heavy jigs from 4oz-10oz, 2 of each size is fine. And make sure you load up the rig before you crank it up, when you make your first couple of drops on a spot. No reason to pull one fish at a time, when you can pull 3 at a lash, especially when you first get to a spot. You be surprised at how fast a spot gets cleaned off nowadays.

And please give us a report on this board, on how the trip went.

You probably won't be fishing any more than 120 feet of water this time of year so you most likely won't need 20+ oz. of weight. Sea bass will make up most of the catch, so bring diamond jigs as mentioned above for the bigger seabass. The cod and ling are not in yet, the water is still too warm, but there might be some huge blues on those wrecks. Good luck.

Thanks....thats what i was looking for!!! But i would recheck the weather...seems NOAA changed the forecast again, and it may not be as bad as originally predicted. Well the fishing will only get better as we get later into the season.
