I didn't know there was more than one type of giant squid.
I have seen pictures of giant squid but I have never heard of the colossal squid a full grown one must be gigantic. Like the article said I wouldn't want to fall in the water with one of those around!
The humboldt squid averages 3 feet in length and has been known to attack divers and bite large chunks off of small sharks.Imagine falling into the water with this guy.Very interesting, thank you for sharing this information.
In the book "Maybe Monsters"
They have a picture of a dead sperm whale that was crushed by a gaint squid.
The largest sucker disc scar on the whale's head meaured 18 inches across
They said if the 18 inch sucker disc was the largest
disc near the squids beak
the squid would be around 300 feet long.
Last year on cross atlantic sail boat race one of the big sail boats was attacked by a gaint squid that grabbed the boat by the stern and bent the rudder forcing the boat out of the race.
Some thing to think about on those quit dark nights at the canyon as you're sitting there staring into the water watching the chunks drift down.
