I think it is great the DEC was waiting at the dock. Same thing happened to the Super Hawk over the winter when they went offshore for sea bass and it was closed in NY for 2 months. Again DEC waiting at the dock. You dont know how many times I have been on the reefs and the crooks from Brooklyn are stuffing their fish bags with live blackfish all short because thats what the live market loves best. I think they should have a DEC officer waiting at the dock everyday.

There has been alot of talk about what the DEC did in S.B the other day. I do not condone any rec. angler keeping short fish. It pisses me off. But I think the amount of effort the DEC expended on that day at S.B was above and beyond what makes sense. The DEC needs to be out on the water busting the poachers who are making big $$$ by raping the seas. The guy who brings home a couple of short fish for dinner is not really doing any significant harm to the resource. If you see any poaching (like a guy with a pen behind his dock that is always full of small tog) call 1-800-TIPS DEC!
