I was considering to buy an electric reel and was wondering if I can run the reel on a portable power pack(car booster). The company sells its own power pack for $250.00 for a two hour rating and $400.00 for an 8 hour rating. They are small and convient but expensive. I would like to know what an average power pack(car booster) run time would be. Any replies greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

They don't really last that long for the 8 hour pack. Maybe u can get about 3 to 4 hours. The 2 hour pack is convient but a bad bump the whole connector breaks. I use a battery booster. Sometimes u can get one (29.99) on sale at Strauss Auto. Those booster can last about 16 hours. I have been using those for my jumbo seabass trips. They are easy to charge.

Diawa Seaborg Reel

The 500fe ($600.00). I have an open boat charter for cod on 5/14/08 0n one of the Big Fish 2 charter boats out of Marshfield, MA. The reel is for my father to use. I remember going on one of these charters about ten years ago at the age of 21 and catching about 125 cod (25% keepers) and boy was I beat at the end of the day. My father is 55 and this is his first time going for cod I think this reel should do the job.

Cod fishing Stellwagon Bank

Sorry for the late report, fished on the Big Fish 2 5/15/08 and caught about 30 keeper cod(keeping my limit), 3 pollack and a five gallon pale of mackerel all on my new diawa SB500mt. This reel is a must for deep water anglers. I also bought the SB750mt which I'll try on the tuna in the fall.
