I know with the price of gas I drive 85 miles a day round trip from home to work and the incease in utilities and my teenage daughters asking for more. How I am going to fund my fishing trips this year. I am already thinking about cutting back on going out to eat. Putting all my change away and saving it.

I am cutting down the sushi lunches .
I will be joy riding less.

What else is their to cut back on

At least for the Holidays I bought my self $150 of Laura Lee Gift certs and had my wife give it to me as my holiday gift. I feel bad for boaters , party boat people going to be a rough summer

Any ideas on cutting back post them

During the early cold months I keep the croak pots going over the weekends. Not only does it make the house smell warm and fuzzy but now I have almost half a freezer filled with soups, stews etc that I use/bring to work for lunch or just for a quick meal.

I also just started filling up the watering jugs with the morning water that runs for almost 2 gallons of lost cold water before the hot gets to the faucet.

Did I actually save any money when I go off and pay almost $400.00 for a completed blank. I have no idea!

Great savings

Brown bagging can save a bunch. Eating at home instead of going out will save some too.

I have been bringing my lunch with me for over 15 years.Im on the road all day 9 months of the year. I do not have time to go look for a place to buy lunch. I spend about the same or a buck or two more to have lunch 5 days a week as it costs to buy a lunch lunch at a deli once. That includes 6 drinks, 2 or 3 sandwiches and snacks X 5.

Guys I work with spend $4 or $5 for breakfast and $6 to $15 dollars for lunch everyday. I spend about $20 for asst. boars head for the week.

Things I did that worked are. Quit smoking =$5 a day bring lunch =another $5. Play on only one hockey team =$1400 a year. This gave me more then enough for gas
. If you cut out the sushi and stay home to eat you will have plenty of gas money

Great advice

1 pack = 1800+ p/yr

Enough money for gas, bait, a new rod ................... and you'll live long enough to enjoy it all.

You're right because I was going out from Staten Island and decided that $50.00 was just too much for me to spend and not catch anything and if I took my son it was then $100.00 Not to mention I was held captive for almost 5hrs with nothing to do but read.

But if I went over to Brooklyn or Jersey then tolls, gas and time would become another set of variables.

gas is a big ticket item for me too...

found a way we can all save $ on gas...but somehow I don't think it will happen.

quote:
George Carlin's Solution to Save Gasoline
(REALLY, THIS COULD WORK)

The best way to stop using so much gas is to deport 11 million illegal immigrants!

That would be 11 million less people using our gas. The price of gas would come down.....

Bring our troops home from Iraq to guard the Border....

When they catch an illegal immigrant crossing the border, hand him a canteen, rifle and some ammo and ship him to Iraq ...

Tell him if he wants to come to America then he must serve a tour in the military....

Give him a soldier's pay while he's there and tax him on it.....

After his tour, he will be allowed to become a citizen since he defended this country.....

He will also be registered to be taxed and be a legal patriot..... .

This option will probably deter illegal immigration and provide a solution for the troops in Iraq and the aliens trying to make a better life for themselves.. ....

If they refuse to serve, ship them to Iraq anyway, without the canteen, rifle or ammo.....

Problem solved.....
If you think this is a good solution to both the problems, forward it to your friends..............
I just did.........

Marine diesel should be cheaper without the federal and state road taxes!

I've been doing alot over the past few months to save money.I quit smoking, not only for the $$, but for my health ,thats $14 a day.I changed all the bulbs in my house, with the exception of the little ones in the chandeler, with those compact floresents. It works!Stopped buying lunch at the cafe at work and bagging leftovers and sandwiches. With the price of scrap metal going up I've been collecting and returning the copper and brass fittings and pipes that I ripped out to fix.Ton of money there. You're right though every thing is more these days except my pay.Now if only I could sell my 91 lincoln town car and buy a smaller car I'd be saving money on gas.

I bring lunch or eat leftovers everyday. Nothing goes to waste in my fridge. I buy prepackaged ham or turkey, 2 loaves of wheat bread, box of granola bars, a box of cereal, banannas, milk and i'm good for 2 weeks. All at BJ's.

Sad thing is we are doing our best to conserve oil/gas, thier is a huge surplus, although the supply and demand principle does not apply as the rich speculators keep buying oil to keep thier holdings intact and play with paper wealth and they continue to buy against eacvh other keeping each other rich.

We need to push even harder for biofuels and increase our nuclear, wind and solar capabilities. Until then, Oil will continue to rise and will not fall.

Sunoco uses NO middle eastern oil. For the record.

But if, as you claim, there is already a surplus but it's the traders causing the problems, how will a bigger surplus reduce the cost of fuel at the pump? The pursuit of biofuels has pushed the price of corn, as well as a bunch of other crops that farmers have stopped growing in lieu of corn thereby reducing their availability, through the roof. There certainly won't be nuclear cars, right?

I seem to recall only a surplus in crude.
Gas is another matter.
Lack of refineries (supply) and high demand is more the issue here, I think.
Any economists want to chime in?
