Hi guys just wondering if anyone had any tips on if the water is warm enough for some crappie and bass fishing in the Croton Reservoir yet. I went out today and caught nothing. Fished from the shore a couple minutes before Muscoot Farm. Any tips on lures, methods, and times would be appreciated

mtkfisherman...yes they are lot of Crappies and they are eating and ready to be caught around there,I have not been there yet but if you want to catch fish just used the right bait, must of the time I fly fish for them, but bait it's all way better early you can use wax worm or flat head ( sculpin) minnows or meal worms,I like to fish the Crappy hole but in the back (probably you were fishing there) and planning to got around there any time now,I been catching lot of Crappies in New Rochelle reservoir but as soon Trout season started I'll be around Cross River and try for both Trout and Crappies...Good luck ....Fredd

Bait is definitly the way to go...but you have to remember also you only spent a few minutes there i spent 3 days 3 hrs each day to catch the crappies that i caught out of there. As this weather warms up you will be able to catcch them like you are wanting to catch them but at this time I think you will need to work just alittle harder and put just a bit more time in for them...John BS&T

Hi JMiller

Sorry i didn't get the chance to stop by this weekend. I fished Croton for a few hours on Sat. Managed about a dozen keeper Crappies (nothing really big), 8 nice sized Yellow perch, and at least 15 big Bluegills. Looking foward to getting back there this weekend
