There is a Filter feature within Excel that may be helpful. To use, click on Data, then Filter, then Auto Filter. This allows you to sort by column, then by secondary column, etc. For example, if your columns were species, tide, location and bait. You would click on the triangle at the top of the species column, then the triangle of the tide column for those rows that remain, then locatation, etc. To get back to your full spreadsheet reverse the process, selecting All as your filter.
