In the past, I've used Excel to log my fishing trips. I've come to realize that my log is too large to maintain.
I'm looking for software that will log my trips as well as have the ability to generate reports for analysis.
I know you've mentioned that you log your trips. Do you use a specific type of software? Is there any that you can recommend that are fairly affordable?
I'd appreciate your help on this one.
I'm knee deep in fishing data and my head is about to explode.

I'm looking for software that can generate reports via query, i.e., looking back at all the times I targeted Stripers and wanting to see the results regarding what lure/bait worked best, at what tide, air and water temp., and time of year.

Microsoft Access create your own database with any type of log screen info drop down boxes for selecting weather conditions, tide, temp, species
bait, time, date, location etc. You can run any type of query you can think of.
I have been using it for about 4 yrs. can run a report showing any info from one or a comb. of any fields

Access: I am totally aware of Access' capabilities, but it is a little too complicated for me. Thanks anyways.

I am currently using a web based system I made myself. It would be easy for me to set it up so that you have access and you can log your own trips and not have them mixed in with mine. Let me know if you are interested and we can chat.

There is a Filter feature within Excel that may be helpful. To use, click on Data, then Filter, then Auto Filter. This allows you to sort by column, then by secondary column, etc. For example, if your columns were species, tide, location and bait. You would click on the triangle at the top of the species column, then the triangle of the tide column for those rows that remain, then locatation, etc. To get back to your full spreadsheet reverse the process, selecting All as your filter.
