There are trillions of them in the creeks up here in Finger Lakes country. I have a feeling they would be KILLER on blacks and may want to net a few this fall before heading down to Jersey for tog... any thoughts??? ... I heard about some guys doing it years ago and they were terrific bait. Don't know if they'd work any better than plain old green crabs but sometimes a few bottom boats don't supply greens... just clams.. what do you guys think??? ... bob

Crayfish-Shellfish

Not sure where you live but I took a walk along a rocky Long Island North Shore Beach today at low tide. For grins I flipped a few rocks over looking for crabs. There must of been 5-15 grabs under each one. The crabs size ran from dime size to others that were 2-3 inches across. I think some were the Asian grabs that I've been reading about on Noreast but I'm not sure. Anyway, why drive to the Finger lakes when you could fill a bucket with these local delights.

fishman... they are tough little critters ... they live for days in some wet grass and rocks in a bucket...I don't know if seawater would kill them fast, and I'm sure the bergalls would make quick work of them, but I hope to try it later this fall .... I'll let you guys in on it if it's a winner.... bob
