I kayak all the time in the day for a mix of species and would love to try my hand at targeting crabs at night on the yak. Any ideas on location , types of gear and whatever else i would need for a safe and productive outing. Thanks in advance for any useful info. Been dying for a nice sauce with blue claws like my father used to serve up when i was a kid. Of course we always crabbed on firm ground , mostly the old crossbay bridge which at that time was great for bushels of monster blue claws wether in the traps or scoop netting with custom home made mile long handles...lol.

I got one of the small 'crab hotel' style crab traps for my kayak. Every day when I plan to be out fishing for a while I drop it on the way out and then pick it on the way back. I can get enough crabs for myself in a day.

Never specifically targeted them at night though.
