Recentley received a Shimano Corsair 400 baitcaster as a gift trouble is not sure what type rod would be a decent match for strickley back bay use on Bass. I have a Ugly Stic CAl-1100
that's available think it will be OK or please sugest someting else

Hi,

Enjoy using your new gift.

There are many rods you can purchase to combine with the reel.

I would take the reel and visit your local tackle shop and ask their opinion. Pick several rods, install the reel (have line on the reel), thread the line thru the guides and tiptop. Have someone wrap the line around their hand several turns. Have the drag set properly. Now lift on the rod and see how it feels . Do this on as many rods as necessary until you find the rod that suits you.
