Crazy Al, I have a collection of Conventionals (Amb 4500, 5500, 7000, 9000), Penn 975 Mag, and Shimano Calcutta. The Calcutta or Amb 5500 will both put 4 oz lures way out there (on a Loomis 10') but the Amb 7000 won't quite compete. On my larger baitsticks (Penn Sportfisher 11'3" or Loomis 12') the Penn Mag will run circles around the Amb 9000. So my question is: Why does the Amb 9000 not perform (vis a vis the Penn) and the Amb 7000 not perform (vis a vis the Calcutta or the Amb 5500) ?
