Has anyone been able to connect their salon, or any TV to the out put of the E series? Just had a new suite of electronics installed, 2 E120's, HD fish finder, GPS, Sat weather/SST, cameras and radar. They stated it could be fed and displayed on the TV but it actually doesn't work. They used 56 herts and TV's accept 60 herts, talking about the vertical refresh rate. They are not standing behind the product which we have invested about 20k in. There is a converter that ranges from 1400-4K but I don't feel I should be on the hook for it since they advertise and include in their manuals that this works. I know it works on the furuno and northstar. I would not have gone with this system if I knew this up front?

Anyone else run into this?

I got mine working on a 21" LCD TV monitor after a ton of experimentation. Even still it cuts off the right hand portion of the screen. Not too much of a problem you just loose the A-Scope.

I had the work done by Dockside Electronics in Mystic CT. Talk to Brian there. He removed a converter from another boat and put it on mine when they had my cabinetry apart for other work. He said afterwards he ordered a new part for the other boat and when he put it on it wouldn't work and I must have been lucky. Not sure where the other vessel stands right now.

I don't know what converter he used but it is hooked up to my component video input (RBG) and I loose a bit of screen resolution but its fine for chunking.

The only other boat I saw with a TV interface and E-Series was the old Canyon Runner boat Hooked UP II.

I know this does not help really, but what I did was to buy a small networked display for my ****pit (it's all Furuno, but the principle is the same). This way we can watch TV inside, and the FF outside (or radar/charplotter). I think it cost about $1500.

That was an option for me until I found out a E120 was $3,500 for the hardware plus installation. The dealer I bought the boat from was supposed to deliver an signal to the TV as part of the deal. He was about to give me back the $900 allowance he estimated to do the work when Dock Side made it work after several attemtps. It would be nice to have a full function display in the ****pit but for the extra $'s I like the salon TV just fine.

You can run into the same problems with computers when trying to output to a tv (the e120 is outputting a VGA signal which your TV cannot decode - I confirmed this at the RM website).

You need to convert that VGA signal into something your TV can understand. Luckily, almost all LCD panels support S-Video, so a converter like this one should work http://www.svideo.com/vga2video.html.

That's assuming Raymarine isn't doing something silly and proprietary with the VGA output.

Anyway, $70 is short money to try. There are a lot of these converters on the market, so if one doesn't work try another.

Computers have an easy fix - just buy a video card that supports tv-output. Then it's a simple cable to attach to the tv.

Raymarine isn't big on connecting to third party gear, but they do list it as a supported option so they should at least have a specific configuration that works with it.

Another option is to just buy a cheap computer LCD panel and use that as a display. They can be purchased second hand for much less than $100 and won't have any compatibility issues.

just sucks, I would not have given them my business if I knew this didn't work. Worst case I will just put a third screen in the ****pit so I can change the settings I guess.

I did try the converter but with the different verticel refresh rate the picture is jumbled.

Thanks for all the responses.
