We are going to have to change his name to 26fortier now, I will let him tell of his fine new girl. May the seas be kind to you and the fish plentiful, God bless this fine vessel and all who sail on her...Good luck buddy

Hey Jason, thanks for the good wishes. Too bad your in Maine, otherwise we'd be fishing next weekend together on her. We can fish some of those 20 mile drops we're not allowed to talk about.:) So far so good, the boat has performed flawlessly on its recent voyages. I've even grown to like that Yanmar, its quieter then the Cummins-Mercs I had, smooth, powerful and efficient.

More pics will come soon, the teak on her is actually in excellent shape. The former owner NEVER fished her and kept her in excellent shape. Next spring with the boat out of the water I'll give the teak a light 220 grit sanding and then overcoat all of it with some clear imron or awlgrip.

The next project is a new enclosure, but thats in the works as we speak. I also need to mounth my Loran, add a rocket launcher and some rod holders (she only came with two !)

Its bad luck to change a boats name so I think I'll keep the name, plus I kinda like the name; Samantha. When the CG documentaion comes through I will change the hailing port.

Best of luck. I remember when I bought my General Marine, and coming off a Parker 23 Pilothouse it was a totally different world.

Hope she raises a ton of fish for you and you get many years of enjoyment out of her.

Thanks guys.

Mike, my boat came up from South Carolina, and before that the owner kep her in Massachussetts, so I doubt my boat is the boat at Gone Fishing Marina. What you probably saw is the SomedayCame as Capt. Brad runs charters from Montauk. WaterAye may as well.

Grady,
Guess its not the same boat. I'm pretty sure the one at Gone Fishing was also named the good sheapard, she was slipped right where the nothern dock meets the floating docks, facing the marina building.

Yea that was the Good Shepard which I think is the nicest 26fortier I have laid eyes on.

She is wintered at GF but I believe now ties up at the Lake Club.

Notice she got rid of the plastic and has glass all around. I re-did all my canvas seven years ago before I saw the Good Shepard. I will surely go that way next time.

Thanks guys, I'll post more pictures this weekend. J, sorry to hear about the T-Jason I know you liked those, but I guess your old man doesn't like fishing anymore

Brightwork is easy, do it correctly once and don't worry about it. Hinkley will do a fine job with the brightwork...no need for smiffing varnish fumes, which I know we like to do.
