Does anyone know how far the commercial boats have to stay off the beach. I drive past Jones Beach every morning and sometimes there are only a few hundred feet out..This picture was taken today , it looks futher out in the picture .Now that I have my digital I will post a picture when I see them real close. Also does anyone know what they are targeting ?

Distance

There is a distance for them. I spoke with Tom from Just Fish and theyhave some sort of regualation for that. Most of the time they come in close at night.

This of course was in Montauk but the rules should apply everywhere the same.

That is why the lobster pot field out in Montauk is good for flukin cause these gusy can't get in.

Lobster pots

M/M..they where in about that depth last year. It was Heather Hills that got wiped out within 2-3 days of reports coming in.

My son was catching snappers at the dock for TJ at Gone Fishin and that is what we used at H/H. Killed em!

There are several strings of pots there west of the light house and the radar tower. They run evry 75 yards or so running south. Got a lot of nice fluke in there and sea bass. Got snagged a lot also on old pots but it was worth it.
