comment on furuno 1850 combo unit

i cant comment on the comb o unit but i have used the plotter and i dont really like it for 2 reasons. one is that dumb ass cursor they use that blinking dot its just to big and annoying and harder to pinpoint a spot just using the cursor compared to the 952 northstar . also its the re-draw feture when your scrolling charts get very annoying after a while. maby i am using an older unit and they have corrected these. but my furuno is just a "backup" i try to avoid the use of it. try to find a good used 952 northstar you can get great deals on these if you look hard enough .....Anthony

Furuno makes a great product. Most of my electronics are theres. I do not have any experience with the combo unit. I have use both as separate units and give them high marks.
I use on my boat the Furuno 582 and the Northstar 951, to me that is the best for what I do. I don't like the combo unit because if one breaks you lose both for repair. If room is very tight and you have not choice, then do what is best. I may go withn that combo setup on my bridge because I still have the lower station.

Great products but no matter who amkes the combo I would stay away.
If 1 side goes so does the other.
They are good for tight spaces and I know someone who has it and like it but they have that one problem of losing both units if one fails.
