Well here is a good topic. Color machines are a very important part of fishing these days . so my question is.

What is the best machine on the market and why ?
I have many choices for machines but water depth and frequency as well as wattage has a lot do with it all. My favorite machine of all time is the old 10? commercial Furuno. They looked like an old washing machine. I remember the Helen H having 2 of these babies on the bridge and most likely still do. The only problem was the frequencies were the same and this would cause hash marks being the 2 frequencies cancel each other out making a false reading on each scope when both were in use. The 2 machines were on because one would be for the top to mid range and the other on the bottom for structure.
For the money you cannot beat the Sitex cvs-106. This is a bullet proof machine and the 120 MHz is perfect for inshore. The reason I say this is you will get a thicker bottom reading on the lower frequency machines and 50 is to low of a frequency in water under 100ft. So the 106 with the 120 MHz performs well and has worked for me in the canyon also. I always have one and advise my friends to have it as a great back up if they have one on board already. The reason being the 120 MHz wont interfere with the 50/200 frequency units that most are today. But this machine for the money is great. Yes I have tried the small Furuno but I like the Sitex better. Now the new LCD Furuno is a great machine for the money. For the big boy I like the Simrad machines. They are expensive but work well. I would say the second choice would be a toss up between the furuon292 10? and the Koden 10? both are great machines. I like the fact that you could power select a machine inside. This way if you have a 3000 watt machine you could power it down in shallower water when needed. Now the old Sitex 705he was the father of the big boys. This was and still is a great machine. We had one on the 44 Henriques I used to run. Well I?m sure this is just touching the topic but I?m curious to know what others like and think.
Remember knowing how to use a color scope properly is a key factor also. Most guys I see don't run there machines correctly or understand how to work a machine. That?s? another topic we could get into later on over the winter. Have fun and looking forward to the replies!
