Have any of you ever been in a situation where you ask yourself whether or not it was simply coincidence or perhaps.. something else?

I'm new to homeownership.. inherited a house, long story. So, Wednesday night, with temps near 10 degrees, I run out of oil and the house is less than 50 degrees. Call the oil delivery people in the AM, and they deliver, only to tell me the ONLY reason the pipes didn't freeze was because there was water running all night.

Now, I didn't leave water running. Turns out the toilet was running all night because the chain had twisted.

So.. coincidence? Probably. Something else? Maybe.
