Is there any benefit to using fluorocarbon leader when bait fishing for cod or is this an uneccesary expense?

That's the only place where I'll deploy Florocarbon. In my experience, flourocarbon only helps in very bright situations near the surface. This is not to say it won't work in other situations. I would just like to see these cases and have someone outfish me to make me a believer.
