For less then 20 dollars i would pick up a spool of Seaguar flurocarbon, and using it when fishing bait. I have heard reports from fishermen who fish on boats like the BUNNY CLARK that traditionaly fishes very deep water for cod, that flurocarbon can make a difference AT TIMES. It is something to have in your codfishing arsenal since it is relatively cheap, and can only add to catching fish.

By the way, flurocarbon is not invisible under water, but is much harder for a fish to see due to its refracting light much differently then monofilaments.

Flourocarbon has it's place..............

The only time I saw flourocarbon make
a difference was on a tuna trip 2 years
ago. we were flat lining for blue fin.
we stopped at the dumping grounds on
our way to the edge the Capt got a call that bfs were in this area. I was using 100lb flouro the sun was shining
bright the water was clear and I was hooking up, changed over to reg mono
no more fish, back to flouro, hooked up
Immediately.during the day ,clear water
flouro is the only way to go, but at night I fish reg mono and have no problems hooking up with tuna.

Well Said Matrix...

That's the only place where I'll deploy Florocarbon. In my experience, flourocarbon only helps in very bright situations near the surface. This is not to say it won't work in other situations. I would just like to see these cases and have someone outfish me to make me a believer.

There is no need to use flurocarbon for codfishing. They dont have great sight, I have used anything from the thickest mono to the new braided lines. It all works, if they like the bait there going to bite it.

It is a must for Tuna fishing, and wouldnt fish without it anymore. They have way to keen of eyesight to fish without it.
