Hi Gruveking,

I own a Clemens lathe for about 5 years and it is used frequently. I have not needed any parts other than replacing th 'O' eings on the rod supports. I can get them at a good hardware store if need be.

As I understand it, Ronzetti developed the lathe and Clemens sold it. Somewheres along the line, I don;t know when, Clemens had a different supplier of the lathes and I bekieve Ronzetti no longer made any. Recently Ronzetti has begun building and marketing lathes under their own name.

I have never seen a Ronzetti lathe. I am sure many parts are interchangeable.

RodMaker mag gave a thumbs up review of the Ronzetti lathe.

I thuink you will be very happy with either one.

Right now Clemens is having a lathe sale. I just ordered another Clemens lathe for the shop. The #2 basic package was $497.00 plus $6.00 shipping. That is a very good price.

I was told that Dick French will still be selling the lathes after Clemens closes so getting parts should not be a problem.

Thanks for the reply,Neil.
I've owned the Clemens lathe for a little over a year now,and have had no trouble at all with it.
The reason I'm asking is,I'd like to add a bed extension(or 2) and supports so I can handle any size rod.As it is,I'm using 8' and clamping it to my bench.Constantly moving the beds is driving me nuts and I'd rather mount everything permanantly.Right now I simply don't have any extra cash lying around,so if they interchange,I won't have to worry too much.Sooner or later I'll have a few hundred to throw down.Either that or,...How much do my kids REALLY need to eat?

BTW,we met 2 weeks ago at one of the "other" shows.I was working the Freddies table. It's my brother-in-laws shop and that's where I'm working out of.

Hi Gruveking.

Thanks for the BTW.

I understand where you are coming from. I had my first Clemens catalog in 1978 or so. Sounds rediculous but I could not afford to buy from them to build a rod for myself. Children came first. Had to wait many years but finally joining RodCrafters and meeting all those people was well worth the wait.

When you need the extensions they will be available.

Clemens Lathe

Good news-bad news- most of Andys lathe parts can be used and interchanged with the Clemens-from what I remember I don't think the beds would be interchangable. It is my understanding also that the lathe and components will be available either thru Dick or another vendor who acquires the rights to sell it.
