There have been some reports of decent fish caught chunking recently. I fish out of Pt Jeff and have not had much luck chunking. No problem on the jigs or plastics but mostly small fish. I have tried at Cranes Neck, OldField Pt and the middle ground. I usually put out a chunk on a fishfinder while fishing for something else. Should I try deeper water and look for some bumps and high spots? Any advice will be appreciated. Also does any B&T have fresh bunker in the area?

I've not had much luck finding good fresh bunker. Too often it has been frozen and thawed, then called "fresh".

There have been alot of adult bunker around the bays. I'd suggest trying to snag your own. I'm no expert, but with so many big snapper around, why not try chunking one of those? Nice and oily.

Chunking

If you don't have bunker, use porgie chunks instead. They are a great replacement. The middle ground has great chunking spots. Don't confine yourself to one spot or one tide. Explore ledges, motor around. They're there.
