Hello,
There are many ways to chunking!
The type of rigs to use depends on the location and structure you fish. What do I mean by that? It?s simple? if you are planning to chunk an area where there is strong current ? you are better off sand spiking and using a fishfinder rig! Why? It keeps your offering stationed to the bottom and allows the fish to take your bait with minimal resistance.
In the event you are fishing calm waters with minimal water flow, you should try a weightless (no sinker) tactics. Simply tie a hook with a chunk and you are ready to go. However, this method is best to hold on to the rod until you feel the slighter pick up.
Other methods include free-chunking. This is basically allowing the current to take your offering to cover more grounds. You simply peel the line off your reel until you feel the fish pick up.
Other important things to know: Remember to change your bait regularly because the current will wash the juices/scent off the chunks.
In addition, It also helps to chum the area periodically by tossing small chunks around your spot. This way it will attract fish to your slick and keep them interested!
These are just a few important things you should know about chunking.
