Not so sure how many of you are feeling like me, but I sure cant wait to kick off the upcoming fishing season!!!

Infact I have my boat mechanic coming in a few weeks to install some new toys and get ready. After going over all of my tackle, buying new shark rigs, hooks, etc....

I have been brain storming about some things I can change with my boat and room onboard...I have a new trophy 2359, and usually take her to the wrecks off F.I. Inlet. Sharking has been awesome and so has been the diving for bugs.

I tend to stay at these wrecks or drifting Overnight and for many hours, chumming for sharks. Taking full advantage of the perfect 2-3ft swell.

Most of the time on a two day excursion, its in the normal to bring 4 to 6 buckets of chum....bringing along large coolers. along with that is taking up space in the cabin below deck...

My questions is how many boaters at the dock, take the chum out of the bucket and place them into individual garbage bags and place them into your fishwells, along with ice?

reason behind it is My fishwells can hold up to 4 bucksts of chum but i cant shut the door. In garbage bags they fit perfect along with ice.

any thoughts? besides buying a bigger boat. :)

As for this season...I am also looking for a few inshore sharking friends as well as scuba divers.....nothing better then hooking up to a wreck, going down the anchor line to see an amazing site then coming back up and dropping the chum bucket for a sky busting mako to fight.

RP, sounds like you got a good thing going :) I too pack all my frozen baits down deep in my center well along with ice, drinks and lunch on top. everything stays frozen for 8 hrs but then I got to get it out of there before it starts draining off and then the smell goes up into the cuddy
By then I either am back at the dock or repacking it in a bucket with ice back down in the hold (to hold the juice :)) Upcoming season is just around the corner !!!! :)

I like to use 3 Litter soda bottles for my Ice this way you don't have to worry about it melting and and getting you baits and Chum all wet. Plus you can use them over and over.

Good Idea with the Bait well. More room on deck the better

Just Named by boat "UNDER WILD SKIES"

Im always looking for new shark fishing And Scuba friends.

Nothing more exciting then diving an old wreck finding lobsters, or and old pepsi bottle . once reaching the swim platform dropping the chum bucket for some awesome action.

My big question is how many of you guys take the chum out of the bucket at the dock and put it in individual garbage bags

Reverse engineer your chum situation---buy a cooler based on the size of your buckets--or find bucket that fit just right. I have a cheap 150 qt cooler that fits 3 of the 4 gallon square chum buckets perfectly. Just a little ice and they're good for days in there. Use the coolers as your seating in the ****pit and you're good to go.

Bring milkcrates, which fit over the open end of the bucket and you have a great dispensing system that doesn't make a mess of your boat. Just take the cover off of the bucket, put the milk crate on top and tie it tight. Hang it overboard and you're good to go. One on each side of the boat... Works great for us.

A trick

Blackrose.

With the same cooler place the first on upside down the next right side up then upsidedown again then right side up with the taper of the square four gallon containers you should pick up enougn room for four cans as I do in my large Igloo Cooler.

Thanks! I'll try that after the snow melts from the storm we have coming tomorrow. My coolers and buckets are all in the shed for the winter. If it works, excellent. If not, I'll bring 4 buckets with covers to the store with me! That's the way to do it!

I don't even worry about the 5 lb buckets; for a day trip they stay well frozen provided the tops are shut. A little around the edges might get soft during the afternoon, but it's barely an inch.

We just put them up along the cabin in the walkaround and bungee cord them in.

Ditto on the igloo cooler we usally bring four tins 3 fit in there easily and the fourth stays on deck for the ride out to defrost a bit so when it goes in the slick gets going pretty good right off the bat

Shark Fishing!!

Reelpleasure. I'm not exactly sure how your boat is set up but I Ran into the same problem shark fishing on my 22' w/a. I have a 164qt cooler that I can fit 3 cans and mackeral in a gargage bag with ice..etc. and stow away the cooler on my bow with starps that I can rachet down on the cleats, which opens up my back deck to work a shark. plus I fill the fish boxes with ice and other baits aswell.
