I remember many years ago some eastern L.I. party boats used to fish for squid during the spring run. Are there any still doing it? Are there any public piers, etc. where squid can be caught? Day or night? Great bait and tablefare.

I do not think any of the LI boats go anymore. The Frances up in R.I goes and I think the Helen H might also go. If you want to really load up on Squid you can take a trip to the Cape and fish at night under the lights in Ptown on Macmillan wharf during the summer. Plenty of squid to be caught mixed with tinker macs.

Every year about this time a few reports mention catching squid under the lights off the Railroad dock in Greenport. Don't know much about it though! You might give WEGO Bait and Tackle in Southold a call. They may have more info.
