I'm want to go on a charter trip with some friends. All of us are pretty green at LI saltwater fishing. Any suggestions? How's the fishing from these charter boats these days? Anyone know? Any info and or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!
What are you looking to do? Shark, Tuna, Blues, Bass...how long are you willing to be out for? There are trips available (full day charters) where you can go sharking and bluefishing in the morning and then bring it closer to shore in the pm and go for some bottom fishing (fluke, seabass, porgys).
Like Somoan said, it depends what you want to do. I go out on one of the open boats pretty regularly since i can't always catch free trips on family/friend's boats. It's been pretty lively lately on both the fluke & seabass trips I take, I've been coming back with a decent bag of fish in the cooler for the last month or so....you may want to just do that, or get your own private charter....check out www.captreefleet.com, they've got the boats that are sailing, what they're sailing for and contact info there....
