HEY GUYS- ANY IDEA ON HOW TO CATCH HUGE FISH FEEDING ON LARGE SCHOOLS OF SPEARING-I BELIVE THE FISH ARE MOSTLY BASS WITH A FEW WEAKFISH MIXED IN. THE ACTION IS ALWAYS LATE AT NITE ON ANY TIDE. I THREW THE BAG AT THEM AND SMALL SWIMERS WITH DOUBLE RED GILL TEASERS GOT A FEW HITS. THERE IS SO MUCH BAIT IN THE WATER I WONDER IF ANYONE HAS HAD THIS EXPERIENCE.

Join the club, You are not the only one having this problem.

I have had limited luck matching the hatch, using deadly dicks or crippled herrings have produced. The week before it was any thing that had some blue in it. Cant quite figure it out, Constantly throwing everything in the box at them. Other times jellys have worked. All have produced w/ limited success.

When you figure it out please be sure to let me know.

I feel the same way too much bait in the h2o for them to bother with my stuff.

throwing the biggest,ugliest metal lip or bottle plug you have at night, or the biggest, most obnoxious pencil popper in the daylight.

I tried using Fin-S and got a few Weaks, lot of ****tail Blues, and so far no Striper. I use the smallest ones. I think it is the ones for freshwater. I use a 6'3" rod and 10lb line. It is fun on light tackle. Bring a gaff would help get fish in surf.

I tried Yozuri, no luck I think it because it is too big or too small and it needs to be work real slow. Plugs dont work too well for me in windy days.

dropper flies, maybe?

I've experienced similar situations in the past where a dropper fly (eg an apoxy-bodied streamer or a deceiver)fished a few feet in front of a large swimming plug or popper has worked okay. If you haven't tried it, it might be worth a shot.

THANKS FOR THE FEED BACK GUYS-AFTER MUCH TIME AND EFFORT I'VE HAD SOME SUCESS WITH 7/8 OZ CHICKEN SCRATCH WITH EPOXY MINNOW TEASERS. AND YES THE FISH WERE GOOD SIZE WEAKFISH. PEOPLE WHO FISH THERE SAY THEY LEFT THE AREA, BUT I KNOW BETTER.
