If its ok to catch and release, I'm going out for fluke again. Although it'll be a little difficult finding the fish without the party boats .

I beleive it is illegal to target, land or keep.


I'm not sure though- NJ season is still open. I know when next monday rolls around I'll be finding something else to do with my boat....like collect barnacles until the weakfish arrive.

It is illegal to target any salt water species out of season, EXCEPT for striped bass, which have been specifically written into law to allow.

i got my last one today porgy fishing a nice fat 20 incher.

If you hook a fluke from now until the season opens again technically you are supposed to try and unhook it without removing it from the water. This is next to impossible to do but that is the technical thing. Me I plan on taking a few pictures since they are so scarce we have these wonderful regulations in place to help protect them.
