I have been advised that I should make out a will to make sure things are handled properly in case something should happen. Looking for someone in nassau or western suffolk. Any recommendations are appreciated. - thanks

How involved?

If you are single and just looking for a basic will I would just go to legalzoom or something. We had a very basic will done online for about $200 until we had kids. Then we sprung for big bucks and went to a lawyer.

I thought about doing a basic one myself, but I really need a complete setup. I am married with 3 kids and a house. We have life insurance policies and 401k stuff. Probably need to setup trusts for the kids, who will take care of them and living wills for me and the wife. From talking with people at work, this will not be cheap, atleast a few grand, so I would like to find somebody that comes recommended.

It doesn't have to be complicated. Your will leaves everything to your wife or if she predeceases you to be divided equally between the kids. Her's says the same thing leaving everything to you. You both appoint as an executor someone you really trust. Make sure that someone witnesses each of you signatures on their respective wills, not each other. Get the person you appoint as executor to attest as a witness on both wills.
