Unidentified fish

It's not a butterfish. A buttefish has smooth and fine scales. You can see this fish's scales. Does look like a young porgie(scup) but the eyes are too big and the snout is too tapered. But you never know! Looks like you pulled these out of a Bass' stomach.
I have a book somewhere in my basement that is supposed to have every know fish in it. I will look for it and try to find this inigma fish!

I would agree it’s a porgy. The distinctive lateral line is ensures that it is not a butterfish. It’s hard to judge the size of the fish, but it looks like a juvenile porgy of maybe 3 to 4 inches. Juvenile porgies probably have enlarge eyes which they will eventually will grow into.

Definately not butter fish. I agree about the Porgies.

This pic shows what butterfish (and baby weakies) look like after being eaten by a bass.

100% certain they are baby porgies. Like mentioned earlier they must be similar to baby weakfish in that they grow into those large eyes. Look at a 5 inch weakfish and you'll say to yourself wow baby weaks have much larger eyes than the adults seem to have.
