I have a big game spinning rod that needs to be customized. The butt on that thing is like 14", which is way too long for me. So here's the question: how do I make a neat circular incision in the EVA of the butt grip without cutting into the blank, in order to strip it off and make room for the gimbal which will be mounted in a new location after the surgery? Billy, you mentioned on SOL something about using a piece of spectra to saw through the grip. Would you elaborate on that, please? Do I just loop it around and tug at both ends?

Do you have a lathe where you could spin the rod? If you do, just chuck teh rod up and use size D thread.

If no lathe, you could wrap teh area with masking tape, giving you a straight edge, and cut around the edge with a razor blade.

The Spectra thing was to remove teh entire grip. Waht you just said might actuall work, the key is sawing back and forth.
