Build your own 38-pound kayak in one week....

The Essex Shipbuilding Museum in Essex, Massachusetts is giving two seakayak building classes this year.

In one week you can build a fast, light, seaworthy seakayak you can take home and fish from. These boats are pretty, weigh
almost half the weight of a plastic boat, and are fast. They're
long, 16 or 17 feet, and are sit-ins.

Anyways, here's the weblink: www.geocities.com/seakayakbuild
(I also happen to be the instructor)

Or you can check the designer's website at clcboats.com --- the Chesapeake 16/17 model is the boat you'd build.

Class is fast-paced, intensive, and designed for first-time builders....

No experience required

No experience is required in either woodworking or boatbuilding to build one of these boats: the construction method is incredibly simple (it's called stitch and glue), just a little time-consuming.

Countless have built this designer's seakayaks over the past ten years.

Check the designer's website at clcboats.com and look at the "Chesapeake model. Their website is really worth a long look.

What makes the process so much simpler is that all of the panels, etc. will have been pre-cut for us by a professional woodworker on a CNC router....
